VFD Hot Dryers for Plastics Processing

For regeneration, the desiccant is heated to a certain temperature, releasing the moisture it absorbed while drying the resin Dryers. Regeneration utilizes around 35% of the total power used. Keeping the desiccant’s power consumption low is important in achieving energy efficiency goals.

There are two components to the VFD Hot Dryers for Plastics Processing, and we can learn about them with the help of a desiccant wheel drier.

The first step is to slow the desiccant wheel down to a manageable rotation rate (RPM). This is significant because if the desiccant medium becomes too warm, it will stop doing its main job, which is to get rid of all kinds of vapour and instead start losing heat. To remove the humidity from the returned air, a variable frequency drive (VFD) is used to keep the temperature high.

The next phase involves a variable frequency drive (VFD) at the regeneration air blower. Here, the VFD ensures that the molecular sieve water is desorbed while using as little power as possible.

The PID temperature controller is standard on all of our dryers. The Control Panel also has a cool-down function to prevent lump development, overload protection for the blower, and an alert for when the temperature deviates from the specified setting.
